This is my first attempt at writing such type of article, but when I saw Lily Collins’ makeup look for the premiere of her movie “The Mortal Instruments, I really wanted to imagine which products could be used to re-create this sort of subtle goth look.
So I tried to assemble all the clean/natural cosmetics necessary to be able to re-create this look. Here is what I came up with:
Complexion:
To create a sheer, silky, glowing look, Vapour’s Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation seems like a fitting choice. To correct small imperfections and redness, I suggest applying Vapour’s illusionist concealer (I could have chosen RMS but I prefer to choose the same brand as the foundation, to create an homogenous look)
Lips:
When I saw her lipstick, the first thing coming to my mind was ILIA Beauty’s lipstick in Ink Pot.
However if it’s too bold or too dark for you, you can blend it with ILIA’s neon angel. To me (in my humble opinion) Ilia Beauty are amongst the best lipsticks on the green market.
Cheeks:
Lily wears a salmon/coral blush. I tried RMS lip2cheek in “Smile” and the color looked exactly the same. Its creamy texture will give you this glowy cheeks effect.
Eyes:
I wouldn’t put too much makeup on the eyes as there is so much emphasis on the lips. RMS in “magnetic” provides that perfect metallic color, giving a subtle smokey effect to the eyes.
To add more definiton, Sante’s eyeshadow pencil (shade 08 and 01), that I reviewed here, are perfect for this look.
The coffee shade is great for lining the upper and lower lashline. The white stick is perfect then to highlight the inner corners of the eyes, giving the illusion of bigger and
brighter eyes. As a mascara, just use the one giving you the most volume. Mine is Dr. Haushka’s Voluminous mascara.
Brows:
Being part of Lily Collins’ distinctive features, brows need to be treated with respect haha.
Ecotool’s bamboo brow and lash brush will comb undisciplined brows and give them a shape. If you need to fill in your eyebrows, Jane Iredale’s brow kit will come in handy.
Et voilà!
What do you think of it? Would you like more posts like this?
