RMS lip2cheeks dupes? Lavera lip & cheeks review!

In May, Lavera launched a series of makeup products to add to their collection “Trend Sensitive”. What caught my attention in particular, was this two-in-one product called “Lips & cheeks”.  It’s the first time that Lavera releases a cream lip product, so I was very excited to try them out as I was hoping these could potentially be RMS lip2cheeks budget-friendly dupes! Four shades are currently available, and I opted for “fancy melon 03” and “cool berry 04”.

Left: Fancy Melon // Right: Cool Berry

Upon opening them, I was immediately impressed by the pigmentation! It’s high in intensity, and both tints are buildable. You can very easily increase the intensity, by applying several coats. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fruity scent they both have! To me, it smells like honeydew. For those sensitive to fragrances, the scent wears off quickly after application and won’t be a bother. The coverage is great, no shimmer, but it has a little glossy effect.

Fancy Melon is a vibrant coral-watermelon shade that packs a punch, it screams summer. This one is carmine-free. While it looks dark on the packaging, when swatched and applied, a sweet coral tint starts to show.
Cool berry is gorgeous deep berry red with a blue undertone. It can be very easily used in a day-to night makeup look.
I’ve found both shades really flattering and wearable. They didn’t dry out my lips, and wore strong for 4-5 hours.

Would I recommend them?
For the lips? Yes!!!
Both are creamy, vibrant, longlasting and superbly smooth and moisturizing. It feels like a tinted lip balm, but with more pigmentation.
For the cheeks?  Unconvinced, it didn’t really work for me.
In the last set of pictures, you can barely see the tint on the cheeks, especially for “cool berry” because it wouldn’t last on my oily skin. (“fancy melon” looks slightly better)
I usually go for powder blushes, as cream blushes do not stay. I tried to apply several coats, but it struggles staying put, and it’s certainly not longlasting.
While I won’t be appyling them as cream blushes, I’ll certainly be using them up as lip tints, because they are absolutely lovely.

Available on EccoVerde (here), I got them for the price of 5.99 Euros. I do think they’re worth giving a try, as they’re such a steal. The colors are fresh and summery, with a great formula, and I really enjoy them as lip products. Those with a drier skin type might be able to enjoy this as a cheek product as well, so why not give it a try 😉

Would you try Lavera’s lip & cheek product?

Take care,

Liz

  • Those are gorgeous! I can't decide which color I like better on you… I found it was really difficult to use the RMS lip2cheeks as lip colors without them looking dry. I've never tried LAvera but have heard good things. Awesome post! #lipproductaddicts

    • Thank you Grace! I only tried samples of RMS' lip2cheeks, but I think Lavera's more moisturizing. Lavera is one of my favorite makeup brands, because of their huge variety of products, and affordable price (at least in Europe). xx #lipproductaddictsunite

  • They both look gorgeous! I wish EccoVerde would start shipping overseas – it's amazing how much cheaper Lavera is in Europe. By the time they make it across the pond, their prices are almost comparable to RMS.

    • I say exactly the same thing about US/Canadian products and websites haha! If there's something you'd really like to try from Lavera, I can always try to ship them to you 🙂 xx

    • Thank you!! They are similar to RMS, minus the sleek, expensive-looking packaging. The colors are great, and so are the two others that I didn't pick up (soft pink and orange-red 🙂 xx

  • Love the color payoff for that price! I also found rms lip2cheek slightly drying for me, which is a bummer.

    • Oh sorry to hear that, especially since Rms is surely more of an investment. I know that Lavera is a bit more expensive overseas, so if there's something you really want to test out, let me know and I will try to ship it to you 🙂 xx

  • I like the look of these on your lips, not so impressed with the cheek but since Lavera is an affordable brand I wouldn't mind if it didn't work so well for both

    • Exactly, I'd be bummed if this had been a RMS lip2cheek! But for that price, I see it as a great lip product, so no regrets 🙂 xx

  • Love the look of Fancy Melon but agree with everyone – both shades looks amazing on you! Shame it doesn't works as a blush though! x

    • Thank you sweet Jen! It didn't work for me, I'm still experimenting to use it as a blush, (still inconclusive lol) but it would be interesting to see if it works for those who have a more dry skin type. At least, it's a great lip product 🙂 xx

    • It's really pretty! I really like how bright it turned out. Perfect for summer (or any other seasons 😉 xx

  • Oh I really want to try them and get one with my next ecco verde order (is it too much to order every month? :O)
but I really can´t decide if I first want to try fancy melon or sunny cherry.
One thing I did notice, I think the carmine-free one is not fancy melon but cool berry 😉

    • Once a month is quite reasonable 😉 Sunny cherry looks lovely but I wanted smth more coral, hence why I got Fancy Melon. I doubled-checked, but Cool Berry contains Carmine, while the 3 others "may contain" carmine. It's confusing, I know 😉 xx

    • I just really want both I´m afraid.
Oh okay, I thought so because in the ingrendient list you posted it was the other way around, and on the ecco verde website it seems the same, but I don´t care about it anyways 🙂
I hope they might work as a blush for me as well, since my skin is more on the dry side 🙂

    • I know the feeling, I didn't mean to get both, but I couldn't decide haha. Oh and if you try them as blushes, please let me know. Hopefully it works for you lovely! xx

    • My Ecco Verde order arrived today 🙂
I went for fancy melon in the end – I don´t like to purchase a product that I haven´t tried yet in multiple colours.
First off, I love the smell! And the colour is amazing as well. I find that it´s better if I apply a lipbalm underneath, since my lips are super dry. But with that it looks and feels very nice and lasts quite some time. I also tried it on my cheeks and really liked it. Not too pigmented, but still visible. On my dry(er) skin it lasted about 3 hours, which I am totally fine with.

    • Love the coincidence, I also received an eccoverde order today 😉 I am so glad that it worked as blush for you! I'm hooked on the smell, it's super fruity. Thank you for letting me know 🙂 xx

  • Oh no, I was really hoping they were great as blushes as well! Oh well I think I still need them because the colors look so nice on the lips! xx

    • I know! You are the queen of blushes Jana, so maybe it could work for you – I have oily skin, and I have yet to find a great primer/setting powder – so all hope is not lost 🙂 But they do make a great lip product. xx

  • Everything looks good on a beauty! Both colours look great on you and even though I know you feel the blush didn't work for you I did think that they both left a very natural colour on your cheeks so not a complete write-off? But then you're talking to a natural nut here, anything that looks like it's not even on my face is great, haha! Great post Liz, may have a closer look at the lips and cheeks myself as I prefer a cream blush to powder (did not say that 6 months ago!) otherwise I was actually thinking about splurging on Kjaer Weis once I'm done with my Une. (don't tell my bank account, we haven't discussed this yet!) xx

    • Aww, I'm blushing, but look who's talking <3 I agree, I'm into natural makeup look too, but I applied the product several times and immediately followed by taking a picture. The tint stayed on for 10 minutes max then it vanished. But I would love to hear your thoughts if you try them. Hahaha Nic, the tempation with Kjaer Weis is big, I have resisted until now ( the bank and I are not on speaking terms anymore 😉 and I will try to continue to do so until 1.I win the lottery or 2. I use up 2/3rd of my makeup stash (most realistic option). Never thought being a blogger would make me go loco on beauty products like this. This is coming from a girl who didn't even own a lipstick three years ago! xx

  • This is a lovely review – the colours look beautiful on your skin tone. I'd love to try this, but I'm scared that the Bismuth Oxychloride will upset my skin. xx

    • Oh I see, I wish I could help you. If you experienced troubles in the past then it would be preferable to avoid it. I had no issues with it, but that being said I mostly use it on my lips, because it doesn't stay put on my cheeks. xx
