A few weeks ago, the awesome Nath from Beautycalypse tagged me for “My Signature Summer Look” tag, which she also created. It couldn’t have come at a better time, since I was in the midst of a spending ban and trying to find creative ways to use up what I had. I’m a makeup enthusiast, but certainly not a makeup application whiz. Bare in mind that I don’t know many tricks, actually I shared all ofthem here 😉 In the heat and humidity, I can’t bother to wear heavy foundation and makeup. However this weather shows no mercy to my skin, so I still need hide some pesky spots. In the summer, I’m all about bright, luminous eyes. Coach Taylor once said “Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose.” (are you familiar with the tv show FNL?) I’ll slightly alter the saying: Bright eyes. Full hearts. Can’t lose 😉Â

Here’s my beauty arsenal for my signature summer look. |
My theme is called “Light and Versatility” Why light? I’m all about a luminous look and giving the illusion that I look more awake. I used several products that work great at catching the light. By light, I also mean lightweight and fuss free. Versatility? Simply because several products that I’m using happen to be great multitaskers, which also prevent letting a product go to waste.
On to the base: I absolutely adore Gaia Creams Chia & Peach
Kernel Seed oil (reviewed here). It performs so well as a base before applying foundation and concealer. Then I proceed to swipe evenly my beloved Juice Beauty blemish clearing powder, (reviewed here) all over my face, to counteract redness and cover some zits. For further coverage, I apply rms un cover-up shade 22 where it’s needed. A hitherto unseen on the blog, The Juice Beauty’s Irresistible glow facial highlighter from the Alicia Silverstone collection. It’s almost empty and it’s a perky coral cream highlighter that I use to add a light flush of color to the cheeks. The texture is soft, it blends incredibly well and suprisingly, stays put on my oily skin. I really wish I had talked about this product sooner.
Moving on to the eyes and brows. This Ecotools brow/lashes brush never leaves my makeup bag. If I don’t brush my brows upwards I look like Red Bird from Angry Birds (sad truth ;D) To tame and help my brows stay put, I use Sante’s lash balm. I use it to define my lashes and prep them for mascara, but it also doubles as a brow gel.
Can you tell that I love crayons? Sante eyeshadow stick n°8 is brilliant for a subtle metallic hue, I apply it all over my lid and I use my finger to blend. I also use Logona’s black eyeliner pencil in 01, both as a liner and brow pencil, because I haven’t found a brow pencil dark enough yet.
Black eyeliner tends to look too dramatic on me for daytime. However, I still use it for a cool makeup trick : to give the illusion of thicker lashes, I line the upper rim, as seen
on the picture above. I follow with the Inika white eye pencil to line the waterline/and bottom lid, to create the illusion of bigger and brighter eyes. Since I couldn’t use my “It” mascara, aka W3ll
people Expressionist – too recent for the challenge – I turned to Ilia in “Macao”, which was almost empty by the time I used it. I bought it a long time ago when I wanted to experiment with
color mascara. It adds some copper hues to the tips of the lashes, which catch the light, adding a more vibrant effect. Macao can also be used as a brow tint, but only for lighter shades though, it really doesn’t work on my brows.
Last but not least, I prep my lips with some good ol’ balm. I picked Crazy Rumors Mint chocolate because it tastes amazing. Colorwise, I opted for coral, so 2 layers of Ilia tinted lip conditioner in Shell shock and I’m good to go, ready for a little selfie 😉

I’ll never get used to selfies, but hey it’s for the blog 😉 |

Thank you dear! If I can do it, anyone can 😉 Ahh I'm so happy you like JB highlighter too! It's still available in some US websites, but yes, I'm mad at myself for having completely forgotten to review this, it's truly a great product! xx
I really love the look of the highlighter too! I want it but they don't do it anymore! x
Oh Jen! I'm so sorry, I really wish I had mentioned this product way way earlier, if I ever manage to find it somewhere available in the UK/Europe I'll let you know immediately 🙂 xx
My standard look is pretty similar actually – I'm all about the bright eyes too. Thanks for tagging me! Will try to get it up soon 🙂
My pleasure and whenever you have time to do it, there's no rush. I guess it could also be a Fall makeup look. My eyes are rather small and I wear glasses, so I swear by bright eyes. I can't wait to see your makeup look 🙂 xx
Love this look, your skin is flawless, Liz! I had a huge lemming for the Alicia Silverstone highlight but at point in time I didn't really need it. It looks so pretty on you! I like playing my eyes too, to distract people from looking at my horrible chin area… :/
Thank you my sweet Ru! I did this look two weeks ago, unfortunately my skin is not looking that good anymore *sigh* but anyways, yes I swear by bright eyes, because I'm wearing glasses pretty much all the time 😉 xx

Thank you Mayah! Oh yes, the Juice Beauty Highlighter is fab, I'll wish they'd make it a regular product in their collection 🙂 xx
Loved this tag and I'm not really interested in the Juice Beauty highlighter!
Hopefully I'll find time soon to do this tag myself 🙂
Thank you Amber! Whenever you feel like doing the tag, it can also be a fall makeup look 🙂 xx
Fab – light and versatile look indeed! I didn't get the chance to do my summer look but I'll be doing an autumn one. Nice to see you over on wildwood argan too!
Thank you so much! A Fall look is perfect, I look forward to see yours. Regarding Wildwood, oh I love it to pieces, it's the first pure argan product that I really enjoy 🙂 xx
