I’m not a complainer, but if there’s one thing I regret is not having an organic hair salon nearby, because bringing your own shampoo to the hairdresser (who can’t help but eye roll whenever I do so), is not the same as stepping into an organic hair salon and get pampered. Amongst the most famous names in organic hair care, we have Rahua, Intelligent Nutrients, Josh Rosebrook, and Tabitha James Kraan and today we’re going to talk about the latter. A pioneer in the UK, Tabitha James Kraan’s salon has specialised in organic hairdressing for almost two decades, but it’s finally in 2015 that her organic product collection was launched and distributed internationally. The entire collection has a luxe feel but is eco from head to toe.
The hair set I’ve been using is the amber rose organic hair cleanser and its 4-in-1 conditioner.
The hair cleanser has a cream-to-gel texture with an intoxicating rose scent, which I’m a complete fan of. Enriched with oat milk (great soothing and restorative properties for sensitive and itchy scalp), aloe vera (composition similar to Keratin, good to for providing moisture) argan oil, rosehip oil, coconut oil, essential oils of rose, patchouli, neroli, chamomile, and ylang-ylang.
As with most organic shampoos, the lather is low but that it’s not a problem, the performance is there and the effects over time are noticeable. As usual, when I start a new product, my hair needs to adjust, so I go through a “greasy-hair-in-a-bun” phase for a week or two before the balancing effects of the products kick in. After several weeks, brittle hair looks glossier and softer.
The 4-in-1 conditioner is a super versatile product and a true standout. Out of the 4 options, I use the conditioner to treat my dry ends and as a leave-in treatment. Dry hair will love using it as a hair mask because it’s rich and nourishing. The formula is similar to the hair cleanser but this one is infused with essentials oils of bergamot, neroli, tangerine and myrrh. It also smells just as divine. Thicker hair can even use it as a styling product because of its quickly-absorbed and gel-like texture.
Suitable for vegetarians, not tested on animals, made in the UK, certified organic (92%) and with a recyclable packaging, Tabitha James Kraan ticks all the eco boxes.
