Eye-mazing Bottega Organica: Beauty Heroes October Box

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My apologies for the delay, I’ve been dealing with a family emergency and things are running at a much slower pace. This was meant to be published before the 20th (I did do a mini review early on Instagram, so hopefully you got your box at that moment), but you can still get the products separately via the Beauty Heroes  shop (even if the box was definitely an unbeatable deal, members have 15% off from the shop). October’s Beauty Heroes generated a lot of excitement, and rightfully so, because it contained the marvelous illuminate eye contour cream by Bottega Organica. (Just the name of the brand itself transports me straight to Italy and makes me want to dust up my Italian notions pronto)

Before I get into it, a quick rundown of the brand itself. Bottega Organica was founded in 2013 by a geneticist, Dr. Andrea Alimonti. The latter screened numerous plants to see their ability to maintain human cells in a youthful state and discovered that prawn sage (salvia hankei) was the most active extract, which is why it’s now the core of their skincare line. The illuminating has been on my to-try list for a while, but with the hefty price tag, I could not justify spending this amount on an eye cream, especially since it’s not a problematic zone (yet). Also, my experience with eye creams is rather limited. I only started using eye creams a few years ago, because I did not see the need. Signs of tiredness appear more visibly now and to prevent premature crow feets, I now apply religiously eye cream (or an eye serum). I’ve been using Living Libation’s Open Eye eye serum for months which is outstanding because it’s really soothing and seems to counteract dark eye circles. It’s on my top eye product list alongside Odacité’s eye cream (review here) and Skin Apotheke’s which I also adore (reviewed here)

At first, I imagined it contained a hint of shimmer, just like the one I have from Lavera but it was not the case. The magic, however, is that it does provide a brightening effect. The eye contour looks firmer thanks to the properties of the following plant extracts: wild carrots for the antioxidant boost, rosemary for skin elasticity, arnica for its brightening and revitalizing properties, prawn sage, and coneflower for their skin renewal properties. The use of arnica makes a lot of sense to me as it’s often used in body products to soothe and revitalize strained and achy muscles. This is the eye cream for tired eyes.

The texture is almost mousse-y-, that’s how soft and light it feels upon contact on the skin. I do believe that if you’re in your twenties, you may not necessarily need to invest already in such a luxurious eye cream, but if you do, let me tell you that a little goes a very long way, this will last you easily for over 6 months, even more. I don’t feel the need to get anything else until I’ve used up this beautiful jar. I was not one to be particularly excited about eye creams, but Bottega Organica changed the game and it’s now a step I look forward to applying, morning and evening.

Ingredients: Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) flower/leaf/stem water *, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, cera alba (beeswax) *, glycerin *, echinacea purpurea (coneflower) extract, arnica montana (arnica) flower extract *, salvia haenkei (prawn sage) extract, daucus carota sativa (carrot) flower/seed extract , aesculus hippocastanum (horse chestnut) extract *, cucumis sativus (cucumber) fruit extract, pelargoniun graveolens (geranium) oil *, boswellia carteri (frankincense) oil *, cananga odorata (ylang ylang) flower oil *, citronellol eo, citral eo, geraniol eo, limonene eo, linalool eo * certified organic herbs flowers and fruits. harvested by Bottega Organica eo natural component of essential oil

What about the sidekick? The sample of the cleansing oil was very quickly used up and while I can’t report on its long-terms benefits, it was very pleasant to use with a lovely lemony scent. The price is also more affordable so this is eventually an oil cleanser I could repurchase.

All in all, the Bottega Organica illuminating eye cream is an eco-luxe treat that heightens a skincare routine, Beauty Heroes does shed light on Bottega Organica whose entire line is swoon-worthy. If you like indulgent and spa-like pamper routine, head over to their shop. To subscribe to Beauty Heroes (you won’t be disappointed, every month is a treat) head over here.

What did you think of the box?

Take care,
