Meet the BBF’s aka best balms forever

Hi lovelies, I apologize for the lack of updates, I’ve been feeling under the weather and I took some digital time off to heal. Now that Spring has arrived, I can not wait to start taking more nature pics and enjoy the natural light. That being said, the weather still feels ”wintery” so I thought I’d share my top 7 beauty balms. Known for its versatility, a balm product can quickly become the most used product in a beauty cabinet – when you find the one that suits your needs the most, of course.

Clean Beauty Co. Babe balm

The Babe balm is the debut product of Hero Beauty (created by Clean Beauty Co.) I have yet to try it as it does not ship overseas yet, but I have a feeling it is only a matter of time. I heard some great reviews from fellow green beauty bloggers and I’ll get my hands on it as soon as it is available. I have high hopes about this because of its one-of-a-kind formula combining exotic ingredients with more classical ones. It also seems to provide a glossy effect which I’m all about lately. (The line between glossy and greasy is fine so this is definitely a challenge for brands to take up). The use of clay is also clever to absorb excess oiliness and for its purifying properties. Noteworthy is also the presence of CoQ10 for glow and plumpness and Hibiscus and sweet potato.

Edit: I just found it on Content Beauty (here), so I’ll be ordering it now. Content ships internationally.

Price: £28 for 60mL
Ingredients: Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil, Garcinia Indica (Kokum) Seed Butter, Rhus Verniciflua Peel (Berry) Cera, Gardenia Taitensis (Monoi) Flower Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Squalane (Olive), Vanilla Planifolia (Vanilla) Fruit Extract, Helianthus Annus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Caryocar (Pequi) Coriaceum Oil, Kaolinite (Rose Clay), Kaolinite (White Clay), Calendula Officinalis (Flower) Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa (Hibiscus) Seed Oil, Ubiquitone 50 (Coenzyme Q10), Distarch Phosphate, Anthocyanins (Sweet Potato Extract), Citric Acid.

Maya Chia Supercritical waterless wonder balm

Their signature ingredient (Supercritical chia oil) is included. Chia has been having a moment in beauty the past couple of years. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, vit. C and E, it is used to maintain skin’s suppleness and relieve dryness and tightness. While it contains shea butter, like most balms, I’ve found the texture less heavy and thick than others. What is particularly enticing about the wonder balm is its scent. Sweet but not overpowering. The wonder balm has an aromatherapeutic effect on me, I love to use it on my pulse points. It is a nourishing moisturizer, but I found it to be a great makeup primer as well.

Price: $42.00 for 59mL
Ingredients: *Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Salvia Hispanica (Supercritical Chia) Oil, *Prunus Armenica (Apricot) Kernel Oil, *Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Oil, Beeswax, Tocopherol (Non- GMO Vitamin E), 2% Essential Oils and Botanical Extracts *Organic or Wildcrafted (when available)

Herbfarmacy Mallow Beauty Balm

One of the first balms I enjoyed and did not make me breakout. I only need a tiny amount to since it melts into the skin. It is highly versatile: personally, I love to apply it before showering to maintain my skin’s balance and as an eye balm. For extra glowing and plump skin, it can be used as an overnight moisturizing mask. It contains Herbfarmacy’s signature Marshmallow herb but also Mullein flowers which have, according to Herbfarmacy, “softening effect on lines and wrinkles”.

Price: £18.00 for 30g

Skin & Tonic Calm Balm

Rich and soothing, this works as a cleansing balm. Formulated with beeswax grape seed, sunflower seed oils, lavender, blue chamomile, and jasmine, this is a fantastic evening treat to prepare your skin for a replenishing night of sleep. Lavender and blue chamomile have proven aromatherapeutic benefits which is an added bonus. Mature or dehydrated skin can also use it as an overnight hydrating “mask”.

Price: £27mL for 50mL.

Pai Head to Toe Hero Buriti Balm

Buriti is the hero ingredient, but I’m also fond of the Sumac fruit wax and kukui oil. Kukui can also be found in their exfoliator which is one of my favorite skincare products ever (reviewed here). Rich in beta-carotene, the Hero Buriti balm tackles dry and dehydrated skin with a non-greasy formula. As usual, Pai’s simple yet sophisticated concept is a dream for the minimalistic beauty. Once you have the Hero balm, you don’t need much, it will take care of any little dry patch you may have.

True Organics of Sweden All you Need is Me (reviewed here)

There is beauty in simplicity and True Organics of Sweden embodies that adagio. Its unique texture – thinner in consistency, feeling more like a balm-gel hybrid rather than a cream – is splendid. The biodegradable tube made of sugarcane is the cherry on top. I use it on my cuticles, lips, fly away hair. I can even make a cream blush or cream eyeshadow when I mix it with loose pigments. I use it all the time and it’s a forever repurchase.

Price: $19 for 15mL
Ingredients: Castor Oil, Beeswax, Olive Oil, Shea butter, Vitamin E and Blueberry seed Oil. 100% natural ingredients, 95% of ingredients from organic origin

Weleda Skin Food

One of Weleda’s star products. Rich and creamy, it works impeccably for dry feet, even as a thick lip balm or as a base for eyeshadow cream. If you have thick brows, it’s an amazing taming and softening treatment. I use it on my eyebrows to give them extra shine and hydration. The effect is great. Another plus point is that Skin Food is budget-friendly and a little goes a long way.

Price: £7.50 for 30mL.

What are your favorite balms?

Take care,
