Just in time for Christmas and New Years, (or if you’re a glow-freak like me, all year round), I present to you, a selection of gleaming beauty products. Makeup, hair, skin and body care products, there’s something for every taste. Let’s glow!
The soft focus skin perfector blurs out skin “imperfections” and revives your complexion with an illuminating effect and satin finish. Skin feels super soft and makeup looks more vibrant on top of Stratus.
Eye makeup: Gressa eye tint in Aureo*
Found in the Beauty Heroes makeup discovery box, the “Aureo” eye tint will call your name during those festive times. With a cream to velvet finish, it can also be worn as a highlighter for a soft golden sheen. The formula is impeccable, it can be built up for more intensity but also worn sheer. It stays put like a champ (crease-free!) so you can party all night long without having to touch up.
A stunning bold, metallic gold – with a touch of bronze to it. The cream formula is similar to their highlighters, it feels more like a mousse because of its light, whipped texture. Perfect for a gorgeous metallic smokey eye look. Suitable for sensitive skin. I’d recommend an eye primer to avoid premature creasing as it is not exactly long-lasting.
One of the best makeup surprises of the year for me. Emerald is a beautiful and intense metallic green shade but I was blown away by its lasting power! It stays put and yet once you remove your makeup, washes off really easily. Compliments guaranteed once you wear this color, as it illuminates your eye makeup look.
For a vegan kiss under the mistletoe 😉 More seriously, Inika shows that cruelty-free and vegan makeup can be compromise-free. The quality of their lipsticks is outstanding, really creamy and comfortable. Naked Kiss was in a previous Lovelula box, it’s a soft metallic pink with a hint of mauve in it. Shiny pout alert! 🙂
The name says it all. The most comfortable lip gloss I’ve ever worn; it glides on smoothly and is so light that you barely feel that you’re wearing something and yet, the color payoff is top-notch. I don’t even need to apply lip balm beforehand, the lipgloss is nourishing enough. It’s a rich burgundy/wine color with golden shimmer to it, a universally-flattering shade. It has a sweet berry scent which I personally enjoy, it reminds me of those candy/tutti-fruity flavored balms that I used to have as a child.
Glitter galore with Lily Lolo! Espresso Martini and Bellini are the holiday edition lip glosses and they are pure shimmery goodness. Can be worn on their own, or as lip toppers over lipstick. Espresso Martini is brown nude-colored with golden shimmers, upon application it does become sheerer but you can easily build it up for added intensity. Bellini is rose gold and more pigmented. They feel a bit sticky (I’m assuming this was the only way to maintain the glitter) but they remain comfortable nevertheless. I also love the fact they have a delicate cocoa scent. I can’t help but smack my lips when I wear those two lip cocktails.
Makeup palette: Nude & Noir multi-use face palette “Bijou”.
Inside this multi-use palette, you get a lip/blush color, two metallic cream shadows, and a shimmery highlighter (diamond). However, the two shadows, Obsidian (brown) Amber (light copper) can also be worn as bronzers/blushes. They have a gorgeous metallic finish and are super flattering. Diamond packs a lot of glitters and looks super pretty on the inner corner of the eyes. For special occasions, where all shimmer breaks loose, I’d wear Diamond as a cheekbone highlighter.
Highlighters: Rituel de Fille ‘Solaris’ rare light luminizer.
I’ve numerously professed my love for RDF highlighters since I first bought Phosphene, and Solaris is another stunner. It’s a golden-hued highlighter with a pink reflection. The formula is perfection in my eyes, despite being in a cream format, it stays put on (even on oily skin) and blends effortlessly. It does not sit on the skin like it can be the case with other highlighters. If you want to get a gorgeous, whimsical and witchy glow, go straight towards Solaris.
RMS Beauty reminds us why they are the original glow-getters with their new series of luminizers. There’s one (or more) for every taste and skin tone. Champagne rosé is close to the original living luminizer, but with a subtle, yet ethereal rose iridescence to it. Nothing over-the-top, just straight up beautiful and delicate. The finish is dewy as usual with RMS products.
While initially labeled as a blush, this is another versatile makeup product. I use it as an eyeshadow, blush/bronzer, and highlighter. Rosé is a true rose gold and injects a vibrant pop of color to your face. Thanks to its triple-milled formula, it is blendable like a dream without fading in intensity. A must-have for rose gold lovers.
Thanks to Beauty Heroes and their seasonal makeup discovery box with Au Naturale, I’ve found one of my favorite blushes. The color “Pink Champagne” is a warm pink with golden hues and calls for party time. It revives your complexion instantly. It reminds me of my beloved Lavera blush (here) which is sadly discontinued so I’m thrilled to see a similar version. Since it comes in a loose powder form, you could even mix it with a cream/oil for and turn it into a cream eyeshadow or blush.
A frosty pink highlighter. Need I say more. This is the first time that I see a green beauty brand come up with such a bold color for a highlighter. The formula is fantastic, smooth, blendable and supremely pigmented. PuroBio offers an outstanding pigmentation in its products and the highlight does not disappoint. I also have their champagne highlighter which is more “wearable” but is equally popping (see on my Instagram profile page, the saved stories called “glow up”).
BODY AND HAIR CARE
Let’s not neglect the rest of our body. There are a large variety of shimmering body oils available, but I picked up the ones that I consider to be the most unique and bedazzling products at the moment.
The newest SkinOwl launch which put an enchanting spell on me. I was just browsing online when I saw these three little shimmery bottles and in a matter of minutes, they were put in my shopping basket for a cheeky little order. What sold me? The formula. This is not just plain oil with a bunch of shimmer in it, but a full-on skin cocktail. It nourishes your skin while adding some bedazzle. Upon skin contact, the finish is satiny and iridescent. I use them both on my face and body because the formula is not clogging. Versatile, you can use it as a makeup primer, for a lit-from-within look or all over your neck, on your arms and legs for extra shine. Amethyst (purple), Morganite (copper) and Crystalline (diamond). I’ll do later an in-depth review of these as makeup primers so that you can see how it looks on.
Following her now-cult Golden Waves shimmer spray, Captain Blankenship has added two other colors, namely Rose Gold Sunset and Silver Fox to get your mermaid on. You still get the benefits of a salt hairspray for texture but with extra shimmer! If you have dark hair like me, I’d recommend Silver Fox because this is the one that pops out the most. I’ve asked my darling sister to model it for me; her hair is short and thick which enables you to see how it looks like on.
I thought that curiosity was getting the best of me when I placed this order, but it turns out that the hype is real. Not only is your skin super soft and revitalized after a good coffee scrub, but you turn into a walking disco ball. I don’t think you could look more shimmery even if you tried. I do recommend to test patch first to see if your skin does not react to it. This is not a product I’d buy all year round, but if I have several special occasions planned in my agenda, this is wickedly cool.
I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you have any questions.I wish you all a festive and “glowlicious” holiday season! May the glow be with you – ok, I’m gonna stop now 😉
