J’adore Bio: green beauty spot in Luxembourg

I first heard about J’adore Bio while browsing Instagram last year, and to my delighted surprise, I found out that it was a green beauty e-shop based in Luxembourg! Founded by Agnieszka with the help of her sister Angelika (who you might have already virtually met if you read my post on eco founders – here). Being Polish, Agnieszka first started by bringing Slavic brands into her store. Last year, French and Polish brands took center stage but more Western European brands have made their entrance since.

What makes J’adore Bio special?

Three points come immediately to my mind. Firstly, they have a broad selection of affordable brands, which contributes to balancing out the eco-luxe stores. Green beauty still has this reputation of being elitist but you don’t necessarily need to break the bank to have a natural skin care routine. Secondly, they particularly focus on zero and low-waste products. Lastly, they highlight the European indie scene. You have brands from all over Europe, some of them are still under-the-radar and deserve some lovin’.

4 brands which were completely new before I perused J’adore Bio.

BEAUTY GARDEN

This French botanical brand offers seasonal products made with local, organic and fresh ingredients. The expiry date is short (due to the lack of preservatives and to ensure maximum potency and freshness) so this is not the kind of brands you buy and leave in your stash for later.  This is ready-to-be-consumed skincare. I bought the Potimarron cream mask last year which I would recommend for dry skin in dire need for nourishment and tender loving care. Skin is smooth and restored. It is also superbly creamy and silky, perfect for a little self-care spa day. The masks all come in this sustainable bamboo jar.

BIOLINE

A beautiful discovery. This Polish skincare brand lends itself particularly well for DIY or for minimalistic skincare routine. They have a series of oils, masks, and hydrosols which usually contain no more than 1 or 2 ingredients for maximum bioactive potency. My attention went straight to the hydrosols because they had unique plant extracts. The mists are similar to DABBA (reviewed here). They smell very herbal and each bottle focuses on one plant. The glass packaging feels luxurious, and I was pleasantly surprised by how great the spritzing dispenser works. It really mists your whole face for instant hydration. Cistus and juniper berries hydrosols are particularly awesome, especially for irritated, fussy skin. These plants help reduces puffiness, tighten pores and soothe irritation and inflammation. I would definitely include them in my inflamed skin arsenal (post here).

CLOCHEE

Another new-to-me brand was Clochee. A Polish company with a hair, body and skincare range. They are vegan, wheat-free and the products are all free of SLS, parabens, synthetics, and petrochemicals. Their packaging is entirely recyclable and oxo-biodegradable which can be refilled or recycled. I was sent the SPF30 illuminating cream recently* which is a tinted moisturizer with SPF30. It has antioxidant-boosting carrot seed and raspberry seed oils. I don’t want to spill too much now as I have another review in the works where you’ll hear more about this product. Next, I’ll try from them are their hair products as I have spotted some interesting ingredients.

MAKE ME BIO

Another beautiful brand from Poland. I bought their clean powder, a cleanser/exfoliant/mask 3-in-1 that you can tweak depending on your skin needs. Mix it with water to a creamy consistency to cleanser or mix it with oil/honey/or yogurt for a nourishing mask. The formula is ideal for sensitive skin and reactive skin, it has kaolin clay, oat flour, lavender flower oil, and rose flower extract. Sometimes, things don’t need to be fancy. This 3-in-1 cleanser is efficient and does its exfoliating job very well. Naturally exfoliating, it sloughs away dead skin cells in a gentle manner without disrupting the skin’s natural balance.

If you’re curious about any of these brands, I highly recommend giving them a try. They embody simplicity and artisanal beauty.
